Do SIAE ODUs support multiple polarities?

SIAE ODUs can function in both Vertical polarization and Horizontal polarization depending on the configuration preference.

What is the best firmware version for my SIAE ODU?

SIAE ODUs are products designed to function with 99.999% uptime, due to this they are sold with the best functional firmware to enable the unit to run an uninterrupted link without performance issues.

What is LLF and how does it work?

-Link Loss Forwarding

Link Loss Forwarding or LFF is an alarm status on the Ethernet interface.  LLF can be enabled or disabled.

-Enabled:  If LLF is enabled, any link down alarm will generate the alarm status of the Ethernet interface blocking any transmission to it and LLF can be enabled for each port.  With LLF enabled, the equipment connected (such as routers, switches etc.) can be notified that the radio link is not available and can temporarily re-route traffic.

How do I select the best modulation for my SIAE link?

-Through enabling (ACM) adaptive code modulation

The SIAE ALFOplus radio series uses adaptive code modulation (ACM) to employ the correct modulation profile by automation depending on the RX Signal quality of the link. The available ACM profiles are:

4QAM STRONG

4QAM

16QAM STRONG

16QAM

32QAM

64QAM

128QAM

256QAM

512QAM

1024QAM

What sizes of channel Bandwidth are supported on the SIAE Alfoplus 17GHz ODUs?

The available channels on ALFOplus 17GHZ include:

7MHz

10MHz

14MHz

20MHz

28MHz

30MHz

40MHz

50MHz

56MHz

112MHz– optional

Do SIAE radios support quality of service (QoS) to ensure critical network traffic is allocated high priority during high link congestion?

SIAE ODUs support (CoS) Class of Service which enables the radios to manage multiple traffic profiles that are running over a network based on IP packet headers.

What does it mean when the light on the SIAE 17GHZ ALFOplus radios changes colours?

The LED on the rear panel of the 17GHz ODU is an indicator of the status of the ODU’s internal and external alarms.

o Red light

ON – an internal alarm is active – connect to the Web LCT for troubleshooting

Flashing – an external alarm is active

o Green Light

Flashing – no radio connection with remote ODU.  In this case, if remote equipment is on and properly orientated, it is necessary to evaluate the alarm list with Web LCT software.

ON – radio connection with remote ODU is active.

How do I backup the configurations on my SIAE ODU?

On the menu of your SIAE local craft terminal

Under Main > Backup/Restore Config.

Type, in the backup File Name field the path where you wish to save the file and the name of the file with the file extension .bak.

It is possible to set a name already existing for the file in the chosen path.  In this case, the data present in the file will be overwritten.

Press Backup and Confirm

o A window shows the progress of the operation

o To stop the operation, press abort and confirm

o A message displays the results of the operation
