IgniteNet brings Gigabit internet connectivity to New York City

Facilities-based telephone and high-speed Internet services provider, EOT, is pioneering the use of fixed wireless in mmWave bands to deliver affordable gigabit connections across New York City and surrounding areas. By using the latest MetroLinq products from IgniteNet in the unlicensed 60GHz band, EOT is able to deploy its gigabit service faster and more affordably than pure fibre networks without sacrificing performance.

“We are thrilled to be rolling out cost-effective Gigabit connections in the underserved areas of New York City,” says Ted Flomenhaft of EOT. “Development is hindered for a surprisingly large proportion of New York City residents and businesses as a result of inadequate affordable broadband options; EOT is bridging the digital divide.”

The MetroLINQ™ 60 is the world’s first cost-effective 1 Gbps 60 GHz radio with an integrated 5 GHz failover radio, enabling high-performance, interference-free connections. Due to its licence-free nature, it is quick and easy to deploy. The rugged MetroLINQ™ 60 can operate as a standalone device or as a coordinated cloud-managed device, depending on requirements.

“EOT’s deployment is a perfect example of what we are working to accomplish with the MetroLinq platform which is bringing affordable broadband to all communities,” says Hal Bledsoe of IgniteNet. “Many communities are skipped over by incumbent carriers; intrepid innovators like IgniteNet and operators like EOT are working hard to fix this.”

MiRO is a proud distributor of the IgniteNet MetroLinq 60 cloud-enabled 60GHz point-to-point (PtP) radio, the MetroLinq™ alignment scope and the MetroLinq™ long range precision bracket.
