A step-by-step guide on how to connect your F300 stations with the new ePMP4500 Base Station
A step-by-step guide on how to connect your F300 stations with the new ePMP4500 Base Station

Cambium recently released firmware v5.7.0 that enables backwards compatibility between ePMP 4xxx APs (or Force 45xx operating in AP role) and ePMP Force 300s Subscriber Modules.

In today’s article, we will go through a step-by-step guide on how to enable the backwards compatibility feature and radio configuration.

The ePMP4500 needs to be upgraded to v5.7.0 first to enable the backward compatibility options.

You can find the firmware download link here: https://support.cambiumnetworks.com/files/epmp_400_425

Then during the radio configuration setup, you would need to set the Driver Mode to the TDD (Beta Quality) option as well as enable the backwards compatibility option. Only select ePTP if you are configuring a PTP link.

If you are pairing your ePMP4500 with the F4525L then you would need to upgrade the firmware to V5.7.0 as well.

Then under radio configuration, you should change the Radio Mode to Subscriber Module and set the Driver Mode to TDD (Beta Quality).

If you are pairing your ePMP4500 with the F300 then again, you would need to upgrade the firmware to V5.7.0. The F300 units have a specific V5.7.0 firmware that was released for backwards compatibility.

You can find the firmware download link here:

(Force300-13L, Force300-25L) https://support.cambiumnetworks.com/files/force300_sm

(Force300) https://support.cambiumnetworks.com/files/force300_sm

In this example, we are using the F300-25L. Upgrade the F300-25L to V5.7.0.

Once the unit is upgraded, set the Radio mode as Subscriber Module and the Driver mode as TDD.

Once the subscriber modules are upgraded and configured, you should be able to connect both subscriber modules to the ePMP4500.

That’s it. You have successfully upgraded, configured, and connected to the ePMP4500 with backward compatibility mode. It is important to note that if your network consists of F300/F300-13L/F300-25L, remember to choose the correct firmware file for that SM.

If you require any additional help with your ePMP4500s and subscriber modules, you can log a support ticket by sending an email to support@miro.co.za.
