Customise your own default router settings with agile configuration

When deploying a large number of routers, there are some configuration issues that can be time-consuming and costly for ISPs. An identified issue is the tedious task of having to manually configure each individual router, which they provided to their clients, according to their own configuration requirements. Another issue that ISP’s deal with is when users intentionally or unintentionally hit the reset button on these routers. Once the rest button is pressed the router will revert back to its default factory configurations. The ISP would then have to reconfigure the router either by going out to the client’s house or by telephonically providing the client with lengthy step-by-step guidance on how to reconfigure the router.

TP-Link Agile Configuration

TP-Link addresses this issue with their Agile Configuration feature. This feature enables ISPs to freely customise default configurations according to their requirements. Meaning, should an end-user press the reset button the router will still maintain the ISPs configuration. This will significantly reduce call-out costs for the ISP and reduce the time spent trying to explain to clients how to configure their routers, for both ISPs and end-users.

TP-Link Agile Configuration

Another added benefit this feature offers ISPs is the ability to perform batch configurations on the routers. ISPs can seamlessly apply their custom default configurations to multiple devices at once, without any specialised equipment. The customisation of each device can be completed in 10 seconds! These batch configurations greatly reduce the cost and time associated with having to manually configure each router individually.

TP-Link’s WR850N and Archer C5 routers showcase the TP-Link Agile Configuration feature. A number of the largest ISPs in South Africa are now standardising on these wireless routers as a means of reducing the time and costs associated with installations and maintenance.
