With Siklu’s Extend MM feature or the 8010FX carrier-grade radio, ISPs can now establish mmWave links without compromising on their uptime and in turn reach greater distances!
This top of the line EtherHaul radio can now be purchased with a parabolic dish antenna that includes a secondary 5GHz feed. You simply need to pair your Siklu EtherHaul radio with any 5GHz radio. The new ExtendMM feature for the 8010FX, allows the Siklu radio to switch over to the secondary link if it reaches a certain set minimum threshold capacity. This allows you to push your link to up to 10km! Should rain-fade occur, the Siklu radio will automatically re-direct traffic across the secondary fail-over link, giving you 100% uptime, all the time. It will send the highest priority data first since capacity will be reduced, but you’ll have a link that will never go down fully – unless the 5GHz radio also fails.
At 10 kilometres, Siklu has an uptime of 99%, which translates to 10Gbps, 361.35 days of the year. The rest of the time, if it does rain heavily, there is a fail-over radio that takes care of the important traffic for the duration of the rainy period. This means that you do not need a complete secondary link with a separate dish, which saves on tower-costs and wind-load. The EH-OPT-ExtendMM8000 feature pack must be loaded on the 8010FX radio and the radio can be installed with the 2ft dual-band antenna when the backup link is a sub-6 radio. This makes these 10Gbps links a simple and cost-effective solution, with a single-pole attachment and a single alignment process.
