Improving throughput and decreasing downtime on networks remain primary goals for all network operators. Wireless convergence technology company MiRO leverages years of experience and expertise to overcome network challenges for its customers. By aligning itself with manufacturers who exhibit proven track records in this regard, the knock-on effects for customers are substantial. The company’s recent appointment as a distributor of IgniteNet wireless products is a clear example of the strategic theory put into practice.
Marco de Ru, CTO at MiRO, says that initially MiRO will market and sell the Metro LINQ™ 60 cloud-enabled 60GHz point-to-point (PTP) radio, the MetroLinq™ alignment scope and the MetroLinq™ long-range precision bracket. The Metro LINQ™ 60 is ideal for service provider and enterprise type networks that require high capacity and low latency, such as fixed wireless access (broadband), 3G/4G backhaul, metro Wi-Fi, campus interconnection and hybrid fibre/wireless network connectivity.
The Metro LINQ™ 60 is the world’s first cost-effective 1 Gbps 60 GHz radio with an integrated 5 GHz failover radio, enabling high-performance, interference-free connections. Due to its licence-free nature, it is quick and easy to deploy. The rugged Metro LINQ™ 60 can operate as a standalone device or as a coordinated cloud-managed device, depending on requirements.
The Metro LINQ™ long-range precision bracket allows for the precise and stable mounting of the Metro LINQ™ 60 radio. The offset design allows installers to deploy the maximum number of units on a tower with complete accuracy. Manufactured from highly durable materials, the bracket ensures extended longevity even in the harshest operating conditions.
The Metro LINQ™ alignment scope ensures that backhauls are perfectly lined up within the perfect range. Utilising leading-edge technology, this device is designed to ensure precise antenna positioning in the field. The Metro LINQ™ alignment scope not only ensures first-time installation precision but saves customers time and money by obviating costly repeated site visits for realignment of radios. Once mounted, the alignment scope allows verification of the optical line of sight for links, ensuring local mount placement viability and determining ideal mount locations for distant endpoints.
The Metro LINQ™ 60, operating on typical distances of approximately 800 to 1 200 m, is characterised by zero interference (due to oxygen absorption), with very wide channels and Gigabit throughputs. The pencil beams, with a beamwidth of less than 1˚, enable substantial-frequency re-use. This also means that the link is secure since it is hard to detect and intercept.
“Deploying 60 GHz equipment is usually an expensive exercise. However, the Metro LINQ™ 60 is extremely cost-effective and provides the added benefit of the additional integrated 5 GHz for redundancy or failover if required,” says Bertus van Jaarsveld, CEO at MiRO.
